Applications

Ultra low power pilots with flapper-nozzle technology have been designed to be mounted on pneumatic solenoid valves. They are used mainly in explosive atmospheres or industries where harmful substances are present.

The pilot (1) is supplied with air at pressure P1 (the supply pressure of the valve). The pressure reduces to P2 as it passes through the orifice and then out through the nozzle (2). All the while P2 is below the lower threshold of the pilot the spool will not move. On voltage, the flapper (3) moves closer to the nozzle, restricts the air being exhausted and pressure P2 increases. As the pressure reaches and passes the threshold of the pilot the spool (4) moves and enables air to pass from the (5) valve supply port (available with NPT or connection) and through the valve.
